Being a mother can be a difficult job, but for me, it's the most rewarding thing I've ever done in my life.  Nothing compares to the feeling that washes over me when my daughter looks me in face, touches my hand and says, "Mommy...I love you more than you will ever know."

To all the moms- Happy Mother's Day!  Wear your stretch marks proudly...I do! LOL!

What's Your Biggest Beauty Blunder?

We've all done it- made a beauty blunder or two.  I'm going to share one of mine. 

Below is a picture of me from "back in the day".  I'm the blonde on the right. Talk about BIG HAIR!  I think I may have been the cause of the ozone layer being depleted from using a can of Aqua Net and a can of Stiff Stuff each time I did my hair.  But, I have to admit, that was the style for any girl who also had the nerve to wear a guitar pick around her neck.  Aaaahhh, those were the days!

Earth Day: We're All in This Together

Happy Earth Day everyone! 

At PRIIA Cosmetics, we believe in reducing our environmental impact not just today, but EVERY DAY.  We use recycled materials for office supplies and packing whenever possible.  Also, all of our products are mixed, filled, packaged, and labeled by hand, therefore eliminating the need to use large equipment that requires massive amounts of electricity to operate.  We're also mindful to turn off lights and power in areas of our facility that aren't being utilized at that current time.

Although I think I'm doing a 'good job' at reducing my environmental impact, there's always room for improvement.  I found this out firsthand this morning after taking the Earth Day Footprint Quiz.  I was actually shocked to see that it would take 4.1 planets to continue my current lifestyle!  Wow...what a reality check.  There's definitely more improvements on the horizon for me and PRIIA Cosmetics.

Well dear readers, I knew at some point it would have to come to this...

PRIIA Cosmetics Approved For PETA's Caring Consumer Program!

I am so excited to share this news with you!  Last week, PRIIA Cosmetics was approved to be a part of PETA's Caring Consumer program.  We are also an official licensee for their CRUELTY FREE logo.

As the president of PRIIA Cosmetics, I have taken an oath and signed a statement of assurance that my company DOES NOT test its products on animals nor do we purchase raw materials from companies who test on animals.

The Caring Consumer program enables consumers to easily find and search companies and charities that do and do not test their products on animals.  We're proud to be a part of the group who DOES NOT perform animal testing.

This is just one more reason that when PRIIA Cosmetics launches in March, you can feel comfortable shopping with us.

Your Top 2 Favorite Makeup Items

It's 1:15 am right now. I'm feeling a bit 'punchy' and wanting to stir up the proverbial pot, so to speak.

I'm going to put out an ALL IMPORTANT question to you...

IF YOU HAD TO THROW OUT ALL BUT 2 OF THE ITEMS IN YOUR MAKEUP BAG (Oh say it isn't so!), WHAT WOULD THEY BE???

Here's the two items I would keep without a doubt: Mineral Foundation & Lip Gloss. I couldn't live without these items (well I could but wouldn't want to) because my PRIIA Essential Cover Loose Mineral Foundation conditions my skin and gives it a flawless airbrushed appearance.  I feel totally naked without it!  My lip gloss (PRIIA of course), keeps my pout from dryin' out!  That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

The Indie Beauty Blog Tag Party

Right now, I'm writing this post at 3:35am on January 24th, 2009.  I was challenged today by Donna Maria Coles Johnson, President & Founder of the Indie Beauty Network, to participate in the Indie Beauty Blog Tag Party.  Well, I'm an Aries and so I'm always ready to face a challenge head on no matter what time it is!

Donna Maria tagged me along with 4 other Indie business owners to write a post about 'The 10 Things I Love About Being Indie'.  After I meet this challenge tonight this morning, I will then tag 5 other Indies to do the same thing.  So here I go!

1) No Guilt- Since I work for myself, I don't have that terrible twinge of guilt that a lot of moms feel when they have to call out of work to stay home when their child is sick.  I used to feel this way when I was working 45+ hours per week in 'Corporate America' many moons ago.  I'm now the boss and no one can make me feel guilty for attending to my family's needs.

2) Freedom- As an Indie, I have the freedom to come and go when I please and it's ALWAYS on my terms.  I simply can't work any other way. Period.

3) The Choice To Say "No"- If I don't agree with something happening in my business, I can say "no" to that particular situation.  I'm not forced to work with anyone with whom I don't "mesh" with.

4) No One Stands In My Way of Success But Me- I'm soooo thankful that there's no 'glass ceiling' anymore for me.  My level of success isn't dictated by anyone but myself.

5) I Have The Best Boss In The World- Need I say more?

6) Opportunities To Network- Since becoming an Indie, I have had the most incredible opportunities to connect with success-oriented and like-minded individuals.  Never in my life I have met such dynamic personalities who are so willing to share their knowledge and help me along my path.  I am so grateful for these special people.

7) Open Outlet For My Creative Impulses- I can let my creative juices flow without feeling restricted by anyone else.  Nobody gets to "can" an idea but me.

8) Empowering Other Women- My business also helps other women to start a business of their very own through my wholesale program.  There's nothing more I love to see than another woman getting the opportunity to experience the joys of being an Independent (Indie) Business Owner.

9) Products That Make A Difference- I am so blessed that God has given me the artistic talents to create of line of products that make others look and feel better about themselves.  It's so gratifying to hear from clients (my guinea chicks) who have tried my products and now wouldn't consider using anything else on their skin.  Talk about a testimonial!

10) Having A More Balanced Life- Reasons 1 through 9 have given this to me and I wouldn't want it any other way.  

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

My New Year's Beauty Resolution

With 2009 almost upon us, I am making a lot of resolutions for the New Year and one of them has to do with my daily beauty routine.

I am resolving to wash my face every night before going to bed!  As an esthetician, I am really committing a cardinal sin because I'm not practicing what I preach.  The problem is I'm a night owl working late into the wee hours of the morning.  By the time I drag myself out of my formulating studio, I'm just too tired to think of anything else except flopping into bed.

Well, I know better than this because my skin reacts negatively to not cleansing my face every evening.  It looks dull, will breakout and just doesn't feel as healthy as it should.  This is because at night, your skin undergoes a 'regenerating' process so to speak.  It can't do so properly when there's makeup, dirt, oil, and debris left on the surface.  So, I am making the commitment to wash my face every evening right after I put my daughter to bed.  I'm wide awake at this time plus I have to pass the bathroom to get downstairs.  No more excuses for me!

Give Back: Donate To The Virtual Food Drive!

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and if you're like me, you're probably busy shopping for ingredients, making preparations and firming up plans.

However, let's not forget that at this time of year many individuals and families are forced go without any of the traditional holiday festivities including the basic comfort of a good meal.
