The removal of superfluous hair from the body is an art that's been around for centuries. However, one thing that hasn't really improved with the process is the pain factor...until now.
When I have new client call for a waxing appointment, there's a few questions that I ask BEFORE I will even set the appointment with them. I ask about the medications they may be taking, allergies, topical products they're using and any recent cosmetic procedures/treatments they may have had. Once I 'clear' them for an appointment with me, I ask them where they are in their menstrual cycle. I usually here a slight pause on the other end of the phone followed by, 'Why do you need to know that??" My answer usually gets a big, "Wow! I didn't know that!"
Waxing will be more painful the week before and during your menstrual cycle. Why? Because your hormones are elevated causing more sensitivity to just about everything, including pain. Try to schedule your waxing appointments right after your menstrual cycle and most likely you won't feel as sensitive.
If your medical history allows, consider taking either Tylenol or ibuprofen about 30 minutes PRIOR to your waxing appointment to also help alleviate the "ouchies".
Here's to happy (and hopefully less painful) hair removal!
