We've all done it- made a beauty blunder or two. I'm going to share one of mine.
Below is a picture of me from "back in the day". I'm the blonde on the right. Talk about BIG HAIR! I think I may have been the cause of the ozone layer being depleted from using a can of Aqua Net and a can of Stiff Stuff each time I did my hair. But, I have to admit, that was the style for any girl who also had the nerve to wear a guitar pick around her neck. Aaaahhh, those were the days!

Happy Earth Day everyone!
At PRIIA Cosmetics, we believe in reducing our environmental impact not just today, but EVERY DAY. We use recycled materials for office supplies and packing whenever possible. Also, all of our products are mixed, filled, packaged, and labeled by hand, therefore eliminating the need to use large equipment that requires massive amounts of electricity to operate. We're also mindful to turn off lights and power in areas of our facility that aren't being utilized at that current time.
Although I think I'm doing a 'good job' at reducing my environmental impact, there's always room for improvement. I found this out firsthand this morning after taking the Earth Day Footprint Quiz. I was actually shocked to see that it would take 4.1 planets to continue my current lifestyle! Wow...what a reality check. There's definitely more improvements on the horizon for me and PRIIA Cosmetics.

Mascara should be changed out every 3 months. However, sometimes before that time limit is up, your mascara may start to dry out a little. Here's a simple, yet effective tip for preventing this...
Simply add 1 to 2 drops of sterile saline solution to tube. Next, dip the wand into the tube and swirl it around. Your mascara tube and wand have now been 'remoistened' with the antibacterial saline solution! This will give you a few more weeks of use before needing to buy more mascara.
Remember, never pump the wand in an 'up and down' motion as this forces excess air into the tube and will dry out the product twice as fast.

I was recently asked this question by a friend over a casual lunch: "Is it true that tweezing my brows will make them grow in thicker?"
I thought this was an important question to address right here on my blog as a Busted Beauty Myth. Tweezing or plucking your brows will NOT make them grow in thicker. Hair follicles don't multiply themselves. However, if you're not tweezing correctly, hairs can grow back in pretty wild looking. This can make it appear that they're 'bushier' and thicker to some degree.
Tweezing or plucking actually creates scar tissue in the follicle wall, eventually preventing any new hair growth from occuring over time. Be sure to tweeze the right way by angling the tweezers and pulling the hair out in the same direction as the growth. You may want to save your tweezing time for right after a shower. The warm water from the shower helps to soften up the follicles making it easier for the hair to pop out.
Tame your brows and keep them in place by simply spritzing a little hair spray onto a spoolie brush. This will accomplish 2 tasks in one: smoothing the hair into place and keeping it there without spending big bucks on brow-taming products!
MYTH: Tweezing brows makes them grow back thicker.
VERDICT: BUSTED!

This may sound way too good to be true (and you know the old saying...), but more than just a few significant studies (plus my own experiencse) are placing a connection between taking vitamin C orally and the prevention of acne.
Vitamin C is considered a "super vitamin" because it plays such a key role in boosting the immune system and preventing infection. In order to reap the possible antibacterial benefits of taking vitamin C supplements, it's recommended that you take 1,000mg to 1600mg, three times per day. A few other supplements that seem to work well alongside vitamin C in the prevention of acne are: vitamin E, vitamin B complex and zinc.
Before I even found out about these studies, I'd starting taking the above mentioned supplements, and I can tell you that's it made an amazing difference in my skin. Rarely do I experience a breakout anymore; even at that 'special' time of the month. If I do happen to get a breakout, it is so small and basically undetectable. I can defintely deal with that!
Of course, always check with your doctor before taking any supplements. If he/she gives you the 'green light', then go for it. Clear skin may be closer than you think. ;-)
