When I have new client coming into my skin care practice for the first time, I always make it a point to first ask them why they've come to see me. Next, I will ask them what they would like to see change in regard to the condition of their skin. Usually, I hear responses such as, "My skin looks so dull. I want it to look more vibrant." Or I'll hear, "I'd like to see the breakouts go away and have less wrinkles and fine lines too."
After taking some notes on the client's answers, I am ALWAYS blown away when I ask what they are currently doing and using at home for a skin care routine. Most of the time I hear, "I really don't use much at all. I have a cleanser and when I remember, I'll put some moisturizer on."
Whoa! Stop the presses folks!
If you want your skin to look better, feel better and be overall more healthy, then just using a cleanser and a moisturizer sometimes (when you remember) doesn't cut the mustard.
I try to impress upon my clients that if they begin using a good skin care system NOW, they'll possibly save throusands of dollars in the future by not having to rush off to a plastic surgeon for expensive facial rejuvenation treatments.
Here's the routine I suggest:
~Cleanser (sulphate-free)
~Toner (alcohol-free)
~Exfoliation product (chemical or manual)
~Treatment serum (condition specific)
~Moisturizer (preferably oil-free)
~Sunscreen (SPF 30)
Using products such as eye creams/gels, masks and pigment relief serums are optional. However, using these types of products will only ENHANCE results from the skin care routine outlined above. Also, the product suggestions I have given you should be specific to your SKIN TYPE.
Now, if you're thinking you just don't have the time to take care of your skin, you're wrong. We're all busy and we each the same 24 hours in day to use to our discretion. The routine I suggested takes less than ten minutes to perform. Isn't a radiant complexion worth ten minutes fo your time? You can also shave off a minute or two by using a moisturizer that also contains sunscreen.
Question: What's your skin care routine? Let me know (if you're brave enough) what your daily skin care habits are like. Use the form below to leave a comment. Thank you!

Heather- thanks for commenting! Your off to a great start with what you're already doing. Next, (and most importantly) add in a sunscreen to protect your skin from any harmful UVA/UVB rays. The other steps in my outlined protocol can be phased in over time. Good luck with everything Heather! =-)
Cheers!
