I just couldn't resist typing this post today. As a self-professed makeup guru my eyes are constantly drawn to 'makeup mistakes' when I'm out and about. I just can't help it. I think it's a part of my DNA.
So, I had to run to the grocery store today for just a few essentials (pudding, bacon bits, sour cream and vitamin water). I know, you were probably expecting milk, bread, eggs, yada yada... Finally it's MY
turn to checkout and I smile at the cashier and say, "Hi. How are you?" With a HUGE grin she says, "Great!!!" Well, it took every fiber of my being to keep myself together. Her electric pink lipstick had migrated off her mouth and was smeared all over her teeth! Obviously, she didn't have a clue that she looked like she ate lipstick for lunch... or did she?
Why hadn't anyone said something to her? How long had she been like this? It's anyone's guess at this point but I felt completely obligated to say something; anything. Very inconspiculously I made a hand gesture at her like I was rubbing my teeth with my fingers. She looked puzzled so I proceeded to make the motion again. At that point, she picked up a small hand mirror that lay next to her register. When she looked at her reflection all the color seemed to drain from her face. I handed her a tissue that I had in my purse and she tilted her head down and began to wipe the lipstick off of her teeth. When she was through she mouthed the words, "T-H-A-N-K Y-O-U" to me. I nodded with a smile and proceeded to
hand her my tub of sugar-free chocolate pudding.
Have you ever seen this makeup mistake? Or worse yet, has it happened to you? Either way, I want to share a little tip with you on how to prevent the "I just ate a lipstick" look. Use it on yourself or pass it on to a girlfriend who's the unfortunate and often unknowing victim of LIPSTICKAMESSYAH.
- Apply your lipstick or lip gloss as usual and blot.
- Next, wet your pointer finger (wash your hands first!) and gently place it in your mouth.
- Gently pucker your lips around your finger.
- Slowly slide your finger out of your mouth and you'll see any lipstick or gloss that may have inadvertently gotten on the underside of your lips sticking to your finger.
Voila! Problem solved. Tomorrow I have to go to the post office. Gee, I wonder what beauty blunders await for me there...
Cheers!
